Dean Saunders has bolstered the Rovers defence by bringing in former Huddersfield and Bristol City centre-back Jamie McCombe.

McCombe began his footballing career with Frickley Athletic as a youth player. His first professional contract was with Scunthorpe United where he stayed from 2001-04. After Scunthorpe, McCombe moved to Lincoln City before joining Bristol City and Huddersfield Town.

The Pontefract born defender was out of favour at the Galpharm with new manager Simon Grayson. He was loaned out to Preston last season before mutually terminating his contract to join Rovers yesterday.

Dean Saunders has confirmed the deal, although it is yet to go through subject to paperwork.
