It was announced at the beginning of the week that Doncaster Rovers were close to signing two players with Premier League experience. The speculation began amongst Rovers’ supporters with a number of names being thrown around.
The earliest signs of who was signing came on Wednesday morning when David Cotterill tweeted “En route to new destination #medical”. He later tweeted “Not far from Keepmoat Stadium”.
It was announced early on Wednesday afternoon that the Welsh International had signed a 2 year deal with the club. Cotterill had previously worked with Saunders in the Wales International set up. The 24 year old has made 196 appearances and has scored 21 goals for clubs including Sheffield United, Bristol City and Swansea City.
Later on Wednesday afternoon it was also announced that Robbie Blake had also signed. The 36 year old striker has signed a one year deal with the club. Blake has made 573 appearances so far in his career and has scored 145 goals. He has most recently played for Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League and has also played for Leeds United, Burnley and Birmingham City.
