Rovers travel South to Field Mill for their third pre season game of the season, this time against Mansfield Town. The two teams haven’t met since being drawn together in the FA Cup 2nd round in 2006. The initial game, played at Field Mill ended 1-1 with Brian Stock equalizing for Rovers on 90+1 minutes after Mansfield scored through a Barker penalty on 23 minutes. The replay at Belle Vue saw Rovers finish victorious with a 2-0 scoreline. This time the goals came from Mark McCammon and Paul Heffernan.
The game should see the first appearance of striker Chris Brown in the hoops since 2004, notably the last season Rovers faced Mansfield in the league. It is likely that every squad member and trialist will make an appearance at some stage throughout the game, as is the case during pre season.
There are no current Mansfield players who have previously starred for the Rovers or vice versa. There is also no link between management and coaching teams however Mansfield chairman, John Radford runs One Call Insurance, Rovers’ main sponsor.
The game kicks off at 7.30pm at Field Mill, Mansfield. Fans can only pay on the gate with adult tickets being priced at £10, concessions at £5 and under 7s priced at only £2.
