PRE-SEASON: Cleethorpes Town (A)

With the 2012/13 season fast approaching, Rovers begin their pre-season with a trip to Cleethorpes Town FC.

The first friendly is anticipated by fans every season, giving them the chance to see the new signings, trialists at the club and also their ‘football fix’.

Doncaster Rovers usually play a local side in their first game, against the likes of Armthorpe Welfare or Askern Villa. This year the team will be heading a little further afield.

Who are Cleethorpes Town?

Cleethorpes Town were formed in 1998 and play in the ‘Baris Northern Counties East League Divison One’ since being promoted at the end of last season. This will see them face sides including Askern Villa and Pontefract Collieries.

Managed by Andy Liddle, Cleethorpes Town finished top of their league last season. Their star player for the season was Luke Mascall who scored an impressive 29 goals. Ricky Belding also impressed in the 2011/12 campaign, scoring 23 goals.
