REPORT: Burnley (A)

Doncaster Rovers looked to continue their run following a home victory over Leicester City.

Rovers came back from a losing position to beat Leicester last week in a fantastic performance at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Burnley v Doncaster Rovers (09/11/2010)

Burnley last welcomed Doncaster Rovers to Turf Moor just over a year ago, on a freezing Tuesday night in November. Rovers took the lead within the first 15 minutes when James Coppinger’s shot was pushed onto the post, only for JAMES HAYTER to tap the ball into the net.

The hosts took 50 minutes to equalize when JACK CORK scored from a corner in the 63rd minute.

The draw left Rovers in 11th spot and Burnley in 9th.

Match Action – First Half

Burnley controlled the first half right from the kick off but struggled to find the net. Rovers had less chance than the host but also failed to score.

It wasn’t until the 36th minute when the deadlock was broken. A controversial penalty was awarded when Chris McCann ran into Sam Hird in the area. JAY RODRIGUEZ converted from the spot.

Rovers’ best chance came 2 minutes later when Brian Stock’s cross was met by Billy Sharp, whose header struck the inside of the post and was cleared by the Burnley defence.

Match Action – Second Half

The second half continued in pretty much the same way as the first. Both sides failed to convert any of their chances, with Burnley having the majority.  Burnley finally took a chance to score in the 83rd minute when a shot was blocked on the line before MARTIN PATERSON headed in the rebound.

Burnley scored their third in the 94th minute when a corner was put into the net, allegedly coming last off SAM HIRD.

After 7 minutes of added time, a miserable game for Donny finally came to an end.
